What We Accept:
We welcome submissions in the following categories:
Fiction – short stories, novellas, and novels in any genre.
Non-fiction – memoirs, biographies, essays, opinion pieces, and cultural commentary.
Poetry – individual poems or collections.
Children’s Literature – picture books, early readers, and middle-grade fiction.
Plays & Scripts – stage plays or screenplays.
General Guidelines:
- Original Work Only – We only accept unpublished work that you own the rights to.
- Language – Submissions must be in English or any indigenous South African language.
- Formatting – Submit your work in .docx or .pdf format.
- Use 12-point Times New Roman font, double-spaced.
- Please note that we do not accept manuscripts that are generated or assisted by artificial intelligence. At Ink of Africa, we are committed to publishing authentic voices and genuine storytelling directly from the author.
Include your name, email address, and phone number on the first page.
Word Count – Short stories: up to 5,000 words
Novels: 40,000 words or more.
Poetry: up to 5 poems or 10 pages.
Non-fiction: flexible depending on the piece.
